About me

Gaurie is a travel and culture writer who took the scenic route to writing, via graphic design, advertising and teaching. She grew up in the ancient temple city of Madurai and later spent several years living in Singapore, London and Beijing. She is curious about what gives a place its character, and how the past continues to shape the way we experience it today. Now based in Mumbai and frequently in London and Shanghai, Gaurie writes narrative travel features and essays that combine first-hand experience with cultural and historical context.
